Sedation Treatment

No matter the level of fear or anxiety you may feel when you think about going to the dentist, Height’s Endodontics can help you have a pleasant dental experience.

Sedation dentistry is a wonderful way to help people who have a fear of the dentist receive the dental care they need. We offer multiple ways for patients to feel at ease from nitrous gas, oral sedatives (a pill), to sleep dentistry.

What To Expect:

First Visit: The patient will undergo a consultation with one of our doctors to complete a medical and dental assessment. You will be scheduled for a second appointment for treatment with our sedation specialist.

Same-day treatment is available with nitrous gas. When making an appointment please inform our office if you are interested. The combination of inhaled nitrous oxide and oxygen, when used appropriately, can be a safe and effective means of managing pain and anxiety in dentistry.

Unlike other forms of sedation dentistry, you are perfectly safe to drive after using nitrous oxide. One of the benefits of nitrous oxide is that we can carefully control the dose and timing. The gas starts working quickly after you begin inhaling it, and it wears off again just as fast once the gas is removed.

Oral conscious sedation and IV sedation require additional assistance; drivers.

“Laughing Gas” is the common name for nitrous oxide.

Instead, inhaling this mixture will make you feel a slight tingling sensation. You will have a feeling of general numbness throughout the body and become a bit lightheaded, but you will still be able to communicate with your dentist throughout the procedure.

No. Everyone's dental and medical history is different. The majority of children and adults will be more relaxed, less anxious, and feel less pain when breathing nitrous oxide. However, some patients do not experience these effects or may become more agitated.

Pregnancy. Nitrous oxide can interfere with Vitamin B12 metabolism, which is necessary for fetal DNA production and subsequent cellular reproduction. In addition, it is recommended not to use it for children under 3 years of age.

Nitrous oxide does not actually reduce pain or take away the sensation of pain, like an epidural. Instead, it relieves anxiety, which helps in the tolerance of pain.
